Trey Boynton

Chief Diversity & People Officer, Chief

Treating inclusive leadership as a separate skill set is a huge miss, especially when it's simply good leadership: being intentional, authentic, and consistent..

THE PROBLEM AFTER NEXT: The biggest challenge ahead is the pace of transformation, driven by AI, shifting work models, and constant disruption, and what it does to people. Organizations that thrive will be the ones that move fast while protecting the connection, meaning, and trust that make work worth doing.

BIO: Trey Boynton has spent 25+ years building workplaces and communities where people, culture, and inclusion actually drive how things get done. Her goal: reduce barriers to brilliance. As Chief Diversity & People Officer at Chief, she leads people, culture, and inclusion strategy for an organization whose mission is to create more possibilities for women's power. It's work she's been building toward across the University of Michigan, Duo Security (where she was their first head of D&I), and Cisco — where her passion for the work came along for the ride through Duo's 2018 acquisition. Named to Diversity Woman's Elite 100 Black Women Leaders (2022) and Crain's Detroit Notable DEI Executives (2021). Georgetown and Michigan grad. Off the clock: a proud mom to two daughters fully leaning into their gifts and her feminist dreams — a theatre kid honing her craft at UMich and an aspiring firefighter who just crushed her CPAT — plus a hopeful Liverpool FC fan and a recent Brooklyn transplant still getting humbled by the subway.
