Lucy Knight, HR VP, Corporate Business Activities & Functions, BP plc

Lucy Knight is HR VP, Corporate Business Activities & Functions at BP plc, based in London. In this role, she leads the HR team who support BP's corporate businesses and functions, with remits that cover a wide range of units from classic corporate functions like Legal and Finance to Group Technology, BP Shipping, and BP's Global Business Services centers. She also leads BP's Diversity and Inclusion Centre of Expertise and coordination of the delivery of the business's D&I agenda. In addition, she leads the group's simplification and modernization of the HR Function itself, ensuring its fit for 2020 and beyond. Knight has an HR career of more than 20 years, spanning different sectors including public transport, FMCG, engineering and pharmaceuticals. She joined BP from GE Healthcare in 2006 as the HR VP Alternative Energy, which she supported from early start-up phase to a business employing 5,000 employees worldwide. In 2013, she moved into the Upstream oil and gas business, as HR VP, supporting the leaders of Exploration, Reservoir Development and the business support functions. She took up her current responsibilities in 2015. Knight has a BSc in human sciences from UCL and an MSc in industrial relations and personnel management from the London School of Economics.
